I have proper medical anxiety so despite my mega IQ (!) I try to keep things simple, and when buying hay I've bought whatever has fewest words apart from "hay" on it.

My piggies gobble it up but now after reading other people's posts I'm worried they are missing out on better stuff. Is plain "meadow hay" ok or should I have got "timothy rich" or "alfalfa" or stuff with extras?

Mine get hay in a bale from the farm and they are really healthy on it. I have never bought any 'posh' hay for them. My Rainbow piggies had the same hay from the same farm and lived until they were 5 and nearly 6 on it. As long as it forms the majority of the diet then they'll be fine.:D

I believe timothy hay is slightly better as it's lower in calcium but I'm sure meadow hay is fine. My pigs have timothy, mainly because it's tastier and they don't really like meadow.

I recommend timothyhay.co.uk if you're after some, great quality stuff.

It's a bit scarce at the moment and you can only get the small bags, but I have been told that the big 4k5 and 25 lb bags will be available after the 14th of January
