If it helps, my boys are bedded on meadow hay and have Timothy in their racks and in a hay tray. They do eat the meadow but they actively go for the Timothy to eat. It’s often a race to who can get into the freshly filled hay tray first! The only other Timothy I had been able to get my boys to eat was Oxbow orchard grass/Timothy blend. If I bought cheaper unbranded local farm Timothy from my local pet shop, they’d eat it but didnt have the excitement that they do over the haybox.
My rabbit is a massive pain when it comes to getting him to eat hay. Nothing has ever been good enough for him! He would eat some for a couple of days and then refuse anymore. He wouldn’t touch the Oxbow at all. Haybox Timothy he absolutely adores and has now actively eaten it for a few months! This is my longest hay success with him in his whole life - he’s almost 7 years old!
The haybox Timothy is so fresh, smells so sweet and I would highly recommend you give a small box a go!
