I’m considering getting two little piggies but am not sure what size hay bale they would need. I’m wondering how much 2 piggies would go through in a month because I was thinking of buying giant hay bales which can last me like 6 months

You can buy a bale and then get another once they’re half way through the current one. We can’t tell you how much they may consume as it’s difficult to judge. I buy a 9kg bag for four piggies but I can’t tell you how long it lasts. I just order another once they’re half way.

You have to consider storage. And also making sure the hay isn’t damp and doesn’t smell musty/mouldy.

I agree consumption is difficult and varies - some pigs will waste more than others for example.

I buy 10kg of meadow hay for bedding and the same of Timothy hay for eating - 20kg of hay in total. The 10kg of Timothy hay purely for eating lasts about 4 weeks. Meadow hay is used for bedding but I use a lot more of if as as my piggies live in a shed.

Before I changed to my current supply, I used to buy large bales, and they’d last around 8 weeks.
