Where does everyone get their hay from?

with 12 piggies, I am finding pet shop (independent pet shop though) bought hay is not enough and is costing a bit for medium-ish sized bags I need at least 3 bags a week :-\
its very good quality hay though and is always fresh and lovely and only from across the boarder so I know where it's come from plus mostly dust free.

I did think about buying a big bale of horse quality hay but am terrified all the guineas will get mange mites/lice from it!
is there somewhere I can get hay in a big big bulk (I have somewhere to store it!) that's good quality and won't have lice/nasties in it? Did think about dustfreehay but am concerned about how much you get in one order?

i get mine from the local market

85p for a crammed bag full, and its great long strands and lovely and green, the boys love it.

in fact they love it so much they refuse to eat timothy hay ow, as they prefer the market hay!

Having 9 pigs and a bun to feed I try and go for cost effective. We are back on Herbage at the mo. £3.99 a bag so almost £7.00 for 2 a week as well as meadow hay (I mix it up)

I found dust free hay ok but I wanted it to last me a month for 2 bags it only lasted 2 weeks so not cost effective.

i get from dustfreehay and the piggies love it. a small bag lasted my 6 piggies (before millie came) 3 weeks but my boys have a habbit of pullling it all out the rack and then refuse to eat it so I fill it up about 3 times a day. x

I buy P@H hay for bedding and Excel herbage for them to eat (or rather in their hay rack - they eat the other stuff too dirty or not!). Trying to save up money to buy a stock of items from Pampered Piggies and like to try them on a different kind to eat for a change.

I buy canac meadow hay from the Range garden centre or pets at home hay. The one from the Range is £3.99 for a large bale and my pigs love it O0

I get mine from a farmer have done since bout feb costs £2.50 for a 4ft x 2ft bale it roughly lasts me 2-3 weeks and i have 9 piggies in a shed

he is now got oat straw would i be able to use that on the floor of the shed under the normaly hay

I get a large bag of hay from my local pet shop for £3 lasts me ages as i only use that for bedding over the megazorb.
Herbage goes in the hayrack for them tho think they preferred the plain Excel so will be going back onto that soon x

well i used to get my hay and tht from p@h but it is really exspensive so jst found out today dwn my local petshop thti can get a bale of hay for 4.80 and the large bags of hay from p@h is 4.99 i got this massive bale of hay cheaper trhn a bad of it i was well chuffed.
