Where do you all get your hay from, how much does it cost and how long does it last? (include how many pigs please!)

Mine's from a farm shop, it costs £3 per bale and lasts a month between 25 pigs.

I used to get it from a famer to but unable to now so have to buy it from a pet shop £2.75 a bag.Its annoying when i used to get a bale for £3.

NEED A FARMER IN THE NORTH EAST CAN ANYONE HELP?

Sorry to hijack your thread

I can't get hay bales, believe me I've tried but I have no back gate and the last one I had meant that hay was all over my floor in the hall I can't have that lol

So... I get my hay from a lovely pet shop that doesn't sell animals. £1.90 a bag that lasts 2 days for 14 and 5 fosters. Oh and 2 rabbits. Big bags they are I get 4 a week. :)

mines 4 pound a large bale lasts ages i only have 2 piggies, i got sick of paying 2 pounds a bag from the pet shop and it only lasted about 10 days

Yep, it's so difficult. I like my pigs to have unlimited hay plus more, it would literally cost around hundreds of pounds to buy small bags.

Sunshine and Twinkle, here's a thought..could you get a bale, put it into a large duvet cover and carry it through the house? I put mine in this before I put it in the car, then store it in the old duvet cover too. Saves on mess, and I just snip the twine that's holding the bale together and break it off inside the bag.

Snap Tracy! I use single quilt covers for mine & store my bales in the cover in a wheelie bin in the shed :)

I pay £5.00 for a bale which lasted 4 piggies & 4 buns approx 6wks but it's used for bedding & eating :)
