So i bought a bale of excel which my piggles love and i found this red shredded plastic! Do * think i should contact them?

That looks like a piece of baler twine to me. I think it is worth contacting them as looks like it may be long enough to cause internal problems if eaten by small animals such as Piggies and Buns etc. If not a sfety issue, is certainly a quality issue.

Nothing lost in contacting them Burgess seem to be quite good with customer service

Looks like baler twine to me too. I'd contact them just to make them aware so a closer eye can be kept out for these things.
