Not too sure sorry...if the pets at home hay is alfalfa hay then it contains more calcium than timothy hay.....

I had the same question....the 'bedding' hay says it can be given as food, but I didn't know if i'd be depriving my two boys of nutrients that might be in some of the other very many types of hay! :{

I get 10 packs of Dust Free Hay which is a mix of Meadow & Timothy so ideal for bedding and munching on :)
I pay £30 inc delivery from http://www.dustfreehay.co.uk/purchase.html

For that price, and that amount of hay? Contact a local stables and see if they will sell you a bale. Usually around £5 for a square horse hay bale. If it is good enough for pony, it is good enough for pigs!

Mine just have best meadow hay, lovely and green. £4.50 a bale from the farm. If ever I buy specialist hay thinking I will give them a treat they usually turn their pig noses up at it. So it's meadow for sleeping in and meadow for chomping on. xx

Pets at home hay is pants, it is all short strands and useless for making dens out of - JoJo has told me this!

I get a bale from the farm too, with 8 to sort out it is so much more cost effective.

The price of hay is just stupid this year though, stupid too hot too early summer :(
