Has anyone else been having problems with haybox ?, I’ve had a few boxes recently where the quality is really not good. Had an orchard hay box that smelled really musky and damp then my pigs both ended up with funny poops. I got a new box of Timothy hay blend and it’s dusty and not long strands like it used to have. Just feel like quality really has went down and now I’m struggling to find a supplier as my boys are fussy with stalky hay :(

I stopped using Haybox over a year ago due to poor quality and damaged packaging and poor customer service
My piggies are fussy but I’ve found the soft silky hay from The Little Hay Company is just right
You do pay for delivery but it’s next day usually and it’s packed well and smells sweet and looks lovely ….no musty smell
They often do special offers 3 for 2 etc

Yeah I’ve had problems with customer service from them too :( That sounds really good, I’ll probably get samples. I used to get from Timothy hay.co.uk but their batches are quite big for two pigs

I opened a new bag of soft cut timothy to day and it is lovely quality. I did stop buying from Hay Box a while ago as the quality became awful and my piggies wouldn't eat it but tried again recently and it seems to be good again.
I get my meadow from Nature's Own, the length and colour can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but that's the nature of hay really, it's down to the weather during the growing season!

We just eeeeked out an old box of soft cut timothy(it wasnt great), and I wasn’t going to replace it, but after reading your post I am contemplating it.
Our last box lasted a very long time- we use it as a treat only- I just threw out the yukky bits at the end.

Haybox now offer handpacked or plastic wrapped- I am curious which one did you choose? Our last box was plastic wrapped.

I intended to have hand packed which I thought was lose in a box? I actually got a big tightly packed sealed plastic bag in a box! It lasts us ages because I only use it for my 2 oldies who struggle to keep their weight up on cheaper meadow. The other piggies only get an occasional pinch as a treat.

Thank you 🌻

I get from timothy hay.co.uk and my two girls love it. It lasts for at least a month and a half and they love to burrow into the hay piles of it.

I get a 10kg box of Timothy from Hay Box plus a 5kg bag, which means that I don't pay postage. The hay in the box does not come in a bag. They're both pretty similar but the box has longer strands. They also compress the hay in the box more than previously so it doesn't take up so much room.

Mines the 5kg, it came in a box and in a bag. As it is the bag has worked out better to store than just the box I had before which had to go in partners workshop and he kept complaining about it being in his way!

I used to buy the soft cut but some batches were quite brown so I stopped buying it. I used to get sweet green hay from natures own

My last box was orchard hay and it was hand picked but it had a damp smell and coincidentally my pigs poops were squishy but they got better after a day of stopping the hay. This time I got the Timothy blend in the plastic wrapped but the strands seem a lot shorter than usual

I used to get from there quite a lot, the orchard hay had lovely long strands and was really green

Ohh I didn’t realise the strands were shorter in the plastic packaging, I’ll probably switch back to hand packed

I find it quite difficult to get the hay out the bag so had to rip the whole thing open haha

I tipped our last lot from haybox into an empty box.

We have also tried a small box of orchard hay, after a previous disappointing soft cut box, but no pig seems bothered by it. The orchard hay from a human perspective looked much better than the box of soft cut we got at the same time.

We went through trying a few hay suppliers at the beginning of last year & ended up with all sorts of small hay boxes to finish up.

Throughout it all our constant has been natures own meadow hay.

I have taken the plunge and ordered a new box of soft cut. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Ohh let me know what the batch of soft cut is like when it arrives :)

Well…. Soft cut Timothy Hay from haybox arrived this morning. Luckily OH was in, so none of the previous delivery problems.

I just opened the box & compared to our last box it looks 100% better.
Here’s a bit of a dark photo.
This is a big box & a splurge & will last us ages- as the pigs only get a small amount of this every day. (They have huge mountains of meadow hay)

I've been a bit disappointed with the silky soft this year, it's been a bit scratchy.
