What courier/carrier do they use?

I've just ordered 4.5kilos of meadow hay.

Also, does it come boxed or in bags?

I order through Hay for Pets too - I get the largest bales. Normally it's in very large plastic sacks, I transfer the hay into a hay sack so it has good ventilation or large paper sacks. Keeping hay in plastic isn't great as the hay can go musty/mouldy, only fit for the bin.

ETA - not sure of the courier, though delivery is usually very fast.

Thought so, I'm going to keep the hessian sacks from my Dustfreehay orders to transfer the hay into.

I'm delighted with the quality of DFH's meadow hay, so I hope HFP is just as good, I was on a lower budget this time round :))

How big are the bag's I can't work out if this is good value for me, I have had to buy local shop stuff recently (which is not bad lately, surprisingly) as my local farm shop are trying to sell straw as meadow hay lol (it is hay it's just disgusting and i found a squashed beer can in it), I tried to order from
Animal magic at xmas but it didn't come so i got a refund as she was having problems with the couriers,

I have 8 guinea pig's so would love to know how long it would last if i bought the 9.5kg or would it go off before i used it?

I currently have 6 piggies, one 4ft x 2 ft hutch, one 4ft x 2 ft DOUBLE hutch and a 5ft x 2 ft hutch. It takes 3Kilos of hay to do a full cleanout with fresh hay.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it really difficult to read their website with the background they use?

It is hard yes, I don't know if it's going to be a good or bad decision to buy from them. I've never had hay from them before. I usually buy from Dustfreehay, but I was on a lower budget this time with 2 more piggies here and 2 more on the way :)).

I have never brought from them, i always buy bales of hay from a local farm which is about £4-5 per bale. The pigs love it! It is worth driving round any country lanes near where you live to see if any of the farms sell hay, they usually advertise it on boards outside the farm entrance xx

Mine are indoor's and only have hamser cage tray's for their hay they have fleece bedding too so i don't think i would be using that much!

If anyone could liken the bales to something i'd be grateful ,like black bin or washing basket etc

Can't think of the name, but the company that delivers mine has a white van 'HOME' written along the side with a light green thick line angled down the side. Ring any bells with anyone?

Woop woop, I emailed them to find out size etc (9.5kg are 60inch by 50 x 50 and should last 6/7week's) anyway i was talking and said i have only used meadow hay as it's really the only decent thing around here anyway he said if i order the 4.5kg tomorrow he will give me 2kg timothy and rye 2kg ings hay and 2kg meadow so i can try them all rather than just one kind and 1.5kg for free, 10 out of 10 for customer service, he even asked about the piggie's and if it was for their teeth and said lot's of rabbit people love their hay and told me the difference's between the hay's, i am sooo excited about hay lol what a piggie slave am i ooh i feel like dancing (infact i was when i got off the phone and my kids kept laughing at me:)))

I have used these for a while and they are fantastic! although my last two deliverys have taken a week to arrive :( my personal favourite is the soft meadow hay (it smells delicious)but the piggies love the timothy and rye so i alternate between the two! Ive only ever had one issue with there hay, One bag was full of pigeon feathers, he did replace though free of charge with anew bag!

I did say i found a beer can in my old suppliers hay, i understand it's a field but a beercan! also feather's aren't good don't pigeon's have thing's piggie's can catch? it is good he replaced it tho

If only mine lasted 6/7 weeks, I get through that in about 10 days. Need to sew some mouths up :x:))

Well i always thought they could catch biddies from the feathers not sure for certain though!

I only have 8 piggies and they bedded on fleece cage liner's so it is purely for eating, i dont think i will but the 9.5 unless my sis in law goes halves as i wont have no where to store it and it will probably go manky before i got through it all

Mine is purely for eating too, lots of mouths to feed here.

I need my delivery by the end of the month, I have enough for my current piggies but will run out by the time the new arrivals come rolleyes

I have ordered this morning cant wait, and mine better be here by end of the week not shouldnt take that long to be delivered

Mine arrived today!
Brilliant hay, lovely and green and smells AMAZING!

I must say, it's equally as good quality as DustFreeHay.. but you get more for your money! It came in a big clear bag and was compressed.. which was ok as I transferred it all into two DustFreeHay hessian bags that i'd kept.

Will deffo be ordering from them again!

Are you keeping it in the plastic bag?

If you store it in a hessian bag/cardboard box it should last for ages, as long as it doesnt sweat (which it would do in a plastic bag).
