My baby Patchy!

He bites me and scratches me when I hold him, I talk to hime and he settles but when I make a little move or noise EG - Hiccup he goes crazy!

Anii Ideas? Ive started to hold him less now because he keeps cutting me with his nails, and they dont need cutting, I know they dont because they are a normall guinea's sized nails for his age!

Please help! I love him to bits and I dont want to stop holding him because of this x

-Abbie

Try just toughing and stroking him in the cage when giving him a treat - some guineas can learn to associate nice things with food - at least if Patchy is concentrating on munching some lush cabbage or something then he can't be munching on you! Good luck! O0 I do hate to say that some guineas will never adjust to being held.

When I first got him he was fine but since we got tobby (his companion) he started to act up!

How old are they both? Maybe it's a dominance thing - if he is becoming the Alpha male then he is treating you like another GP - quite flattering I suppose!

He could be going through his teenage years, mine where a bit grumpy for a few months, but settled down.

Feeding them when you handle them works well.

Don't give up, I am sure it's just a stage.

I have the same prob at the moment I have 2 12wk old babies and their nails are like needles! So although the didn't need trimming I just took the very ends off (points) to blunt them off a bit! It a bit better now - everyone was asking me if I had a cat!

Well i would say they are about ermm... possibly 28 weeks or so. I bought them when they where 10/11 weeks,
