so i took my boy, nibbles to the vets with his poorly foot, and the vet gave "him" a check over after she looked at his foot. she then went on to say how he had polycystic ovaries! i asked her to double check and yes, he, is a she! we,ve only just adopted them, and they have lived single lives apart from each other all this time. which i think is a bit sad as they could have been lifelong companions all this time. I now want to put them together, but will find the relevant section and ask for advice on how to do this, if at all possible. :)

Aww, that's a shame, but good for them that they'll have friends now.....might be worth checking that the other one is a female - definitely. lol

I agree - best be certain that you have 2 same sex piggies. I’m not sure where you adopted them from, but it’s a shame if they came from a rescue that someone got the sexing wrong.

If you are certain that they are same sex then please read our introductions guide very carefully before attempting an introduction. They may not like each other!

Thank you, i will do lots of research before hand. I'll go take a look at the guides tonight. I also took a picture of each piggies bits. would it be ok to show you here?

absolutely. We can't guarantee anything from a picture, but lots of people on here have good experience in sexing piggies, so more chance of being right than on your own.

Thank you. should i take the other back to the vets to clarify if its definitely a girl?

Oh I'm not sure now! the one on the left is the confirmed girl. the other one is the one we were told is a girl, but not confirmed.

Ive got to pop back to the vets to get nibbles medicine, and ive got to give her that for 21 days, so i'll wait till her little foot is better before i introduce them. I'm going to read up and watch as many videos as poss before hand. Its such a shame they never got the chance to be companions sooner!

Yep, those are definitely sows. Hopefully they will get along well! It's a shame they didn't get to meet sooner due to an error with the gender, but it's never too late to make friends!
