This may sound silly but i didnt kno how intelligent guinea pigs were.
My brother got Lincoln out while i was out the room. I walked back in and he started popcorning and going mad and came running after me and jumping up me like a dog. My brother said he had totally ignored him and refused to move until i came in. His friends with my brother now i just think he needed me to be there to reasure him. I didnt know they could tell who you were straight away. Awww its so rewarding for him to know I'm the one who feeds and cleans him and looks after him the best i can :<>

Aww wow thats brill, my piggies no who me and my partner are to, apparently they know who you are by your footsteps.
but its great wen they start talking back to you.xx

When its veggie time, they wheek like mad when they hear me coming down the stairs, but they dont do it to anyone else.
 
Aw, that's so cute! Wish mine would come running up to me like that.....instead they run a million miles unless I have veg/hay with me. :))
 
It's a nice feeling.

But he's popcorning because he's a lone pig. He thinks of you as part of his herd. When your away he will miss you terribly. If you are home all the time it's not as much of a problem, but if you go out to for long periods it upsets them.

It's lovely that he adores you so much, and why wouldn't he? you bring him lovely food and treats. But a friend might be nice, to keep him company while your not in. If you get a rescue with a similar temprament, he'll still be very friendly towards you. We introduced 2 sows to our lone boar howard, he was really attentive and shouted at us for attention constantly. now he has his friends, he's even happier, popcorning even more, but he still comes to the side of his cage for tickles and treats.

I'm currently out of work so he has my attention 24/7 which he loves. Ive spoken to my boyfriend and his agreed when i find a full time job were getting him a new friend :) i cant wait its so exciting. I'm abit worried he will get jelous but we'll see. i wouldnt let them live together i would have them side by side and have time on the floor 2gether as i cudnt see them fight I'm nt experienced enuff to deal with that x

He's definatly a spoilt little monkey x>> (ours are toorolleyes)job hunting's no fun is it? bet you can't wait to get it all sorted? getting a new job will be great, but a new guinea pig too... EXCITING.

Thanks Jane. Ye its hard work. me and my boyfriend lost our job in the same week. really stressful. my boyfriend has interview tomorrow and ive submitted about 20 CVs so fingers crossed :)

good luck with the job hunting, i know how hard it can be. Mine also know when its me or someone else, they never wheek for other people!
 
my guinea pig does that, he comes running up, sprinting and jumping, and starts madly licking my lips and nose, its so lovely! and then he starts popcorning. hes such a darling!

sorry to hear bout your job loss, that must be very hard - i just narrowly escaped it as the developer I was working for only a couple of months ago made nearly 3/4 of the workforce redundant - i moved jsut a right time! I'm sure you both will find something very soon and good luck with the CV and interviews!:))
 
Well, at least you know that the piggy loves you to bits and you are part of his herd.

All my piggies know "the hand who feeds them" very well and are not as attentive to any other person cleaning or feeding them, including my kids. Mine where quite stressed last year when I went on holidays and my girlfriend took over for a week...they all wheeked and popcorned like mad when I walked through the door.
