oh its fantastic he made it through the op and is eating thats so amazing I'm
elated anyone else been through stone removal and after care any ideas etc will be asking nurse when we collect him later but owners also have great advice so I'm asking here first collect him at four hip hip hoorah pow-pow^) i love the vetxoxox>>

Fab news!

My main advice on post-op care would be to make sure he eats and drinks as much as possible to help him on the road to recovery.....and extra vit c is good for recovering piggies (crush up a vit c tablet into some water and syringe feed it if necessary).

I've found that cranberry juice and/or probiotic in the water also encourages them to drink.

Of course, keep the cage as clean and dry as possible to prevent infection, keep an eye on the wound for signs of infection / re-opening / reaction to the sutures, and (if possible) restrict his space a little so he doesn't do himself a mischief!

But I'm sure he'll be fine - my two seemed to sail through their post-op recovery (after castration).

Fingers crossed! tracey x

Great news! You must be very relieved. It maybe worth asking the vet for some pain meds (Metacam) to have while he's recovering. Hope he gets well soon.

Ooo I'm so glad :) Best wishes for a speedy recovery! x

Brilliant news, so glad the op went well. Give your special boy a little hug from us - going through the same thing tomorrow with Jazz know how you have been feeling.

Great news! I hope that he will recover well.

Post op care is about the same as with other ops (tips are in the link). Make sure that nothing gets into his wound and try to keep him as quiet as you can for 10-14 days until the scar has knitted.

My Minx went through two bladder stone ops, but while she sailed through the first one, she struggled after her second op one year later. Please be aware that stones can in some cases recur within weeks of an op.
