I've had my two guineas for about a week now. They are tucking in to lots of hay, dried food and water, but I don't think one (Sundae) has eaten any veg at all! Silver dives straight in, sucking up leaves like spaghetti, but Sundae goes to lick/bite a bit then stops. I keep watching them but haven't seen him eat any veggies. It all diasappears, but I'm pretty sure thats greedy Silver finishing it all off! I'm worried about Sundae's Vitamin C intake, etc. Shall I start adding Vit C drops to their water?! I'm starting to worry! I'd really appreciate any advice you can give me. Thankyou!

I would not add any vitamin c to the water - you can't control the intake, it goes off quickly and only helps bottles to go green in time flat! With unlimited good quality pellets, your piggy will get some vitamin C with them, so he is not in immediate danger.

If you want to top up his diet (or if a piggy is ill ro stressed), it is best to dissolve 1/8 of a vitamin C tablet in 1-2 ml of water and syringe that fresh - that way, you know that your piggy gets the full benefit. At the moment, doing that every 2-3 days will be sufficient.

Have you tried offering grass? Hopefully, he will start tucking in soon! Some piggies can take some persuasion and it is very exasperating to watch! Hopefully, the "I want what you have" reflex will kick in soon; at least he is already getting used to the taste of fresh food.

Weigh your piggies weekly; that way, you can catch many developing health problems much earlier.

Range of greens

Hi have you tried red/green peppers they are a good source of vitamin c, also try different types of greens my piggies don't like cabbage but do like spring greens, they like lettuce as well and spinach. I also ciut grass from the lawn for them if it's wet and they can't go in the run. Mine also adore carrots.x)
Make sure you weigh the piggies regular as you want to be sure that the one who is not eating veg is getting enough to eat ideally weigh every week, it may be that you're pig who likes the veg is not letting the other to them.
You could try taking the one who you are worried about out and offering veg away from the other to see if it eats then.
Hope this is helpful.:a19:
