I have to boars aged around 2 years and 3 1/2 months. They are around the same size now which to be honest really shocked me, I can't believe how quick the little one has grown..

I've noticed when they have been out in their run today the older boar was humping the younger ones head, is this normal ? I have heard when little un's hormones kick in I could have them fighting :(up to now they do seem very happy together..I need to ask a few question on hutches indoors and out (they have outgrown the one they have now) will start a new thread..
Thanks karen x

Mine humped eachothers bottom ends but not their heads so I dont know...interesting!

Little Pigpig humps bigger Cobweb's head when they are together.. I think it's because he doesn't get a chance to get near Cobweb's bottom. Cobweb doesn't seem to mind, it lets him get a good sniff...

I can't really help other than to say I've seen the deed done myself, as my pigs live side by side because Cobweb's a bit of a bully. ::)

welcome to the joy of keeping boars ;D

ps. my lil boy duke always tries to do any part of shakey he can get, be it booty, head/face, tummy ;D

Yeah Sunshine and Twinkle do that! More so in an enclosed space like the washing basket. I can't bring them in together anymore as they like their own space and now they are bigger they get on one anothers nerves if they are too close sometimes!

That said I'm always finding piggy bums sitting under one igloo! I really don't know what to make of them sometimes! :D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ahhhh yep that's boars for you ::) ::) ::)

Our Duke was forever humping Sully's (RIP) head, butt whatever he could get at, Sully didn't mind too much but sometimes he'd get real narky with him ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Oh so its quite normal then 2funny at the moment Zac dosen't seem to bothered him doing it..
He only does it when they are on the grass in the run..

Its normal, they will hump wherever, and the lowest point as they get older is the head. Once they confirm who is the dominant pig, it will go back to normal until one of them wants to clarify whos in charge again ::) MEN! ;D

In cases like the above Jen, please make sure you have double checked the sexes of your sows 'just in case' O0

lol! My Truffles loves to hump Treacles head! - I'm glad I'm not the only one with head humping piggies! ::) i havent acctually seen him hump anywhere else on Treacle - just his head! 98) silly piggies!

Bully does heads, bums, sideways - whichever way he can get on! :embarassed:

My older Sow has been a Sow for 3yrs of her life, and I don't think shes going to turn into a boar anytime soon ;)

Not only do my Boars do it, my Sows do it too, lol! ;D

My 5 sows have never been spotted being so unladylike ;D :o well so far, anyway . . . Jen are you sure they're sows?

Yeah i can confirm this too i have 7 sows all living together in a herd the dominant one Rosie humps the others anything she can get hold of heads butts 98)

My boys never did that, in all 5-7 years they lived together(5 with me), and now, for the last 1-2 years have been seperated so don't have a chance! Lol, my sisters's sows did it though… xx0

As I posted above, they have been Sows for all their lives and I don't think they'll change anytime soon ;)

And just to confirm that I did check my 'head humping' Sow and she is a Sow ;)

We wernt saying anything bad, its just worth checking 'just in case', only takes 2 mins and isnt a big deal :)

I know it isn't a big deal...

But you just sounded as if it was a Boar and I hadn't cared to check, but as a few other people have said theirs do it to ;)
