I do apologize if my spelling is off on the title. But my piggie Peewee who is a male does not like interactions very much when I first got him he was more on the quiet side very shy and skittish of course but now whenever I go to pet him he kind of gives my hand a head butt or nudge. He doesn't really care for being held or messed with, is this behavior normal? I've tried putting him with my other male piggie but they still do not get along. I even tried using vanilla extract under their tales as suggested by a worker at petsmart and nothing seems to work. When together even in open spaces they fight and bite each other so ive had to keep them separated all this time. And now he is just not liking any type of interaction unless he is busy eating food or snacks.

It’s entirely normal for piggies to not want to be held or touched. If he is pushing your hand away then that is most likely an indication he doesn’t like it.

Understanding Prey Animal Instincts, Guinea Pig Whispering and Cuddling Tips

A successful bond comes down entirely to character compatibility and in your case, your piggies do not have it. Sadly if buying piggies from pet shops, then this is always a risk as you can’t know whether they will have compatibility before purchase.
Being told to put vanilla on them is not good advice, Its not going to do anything to make them like each other.
They will need to be kept in separate but side by side cages so they can interact through the bars for companionship only. Ensure each cage is 120x60cm or bigger.

Hi, some guinea pigs just don’t like being stroked and held unfortunately. Another way of spending time with Peewee instead of stroking him could be hand feeding as you mentioned that he likes his food and snacks.

Did the Petsmart worker tell you why vanilla extract would potentially help you? I wouldn’t use that as I don’t think that would help them at all, some guinea pigs just don’t get along unfortunately 🤍
