A friend of mine came round today and she was pretty upset.Total animal lover and had been round to a house that had took on two male guinea pigs. They are being kept in a smallish cardboard box in the kitchen .The people that have them took them cos guy said he would 'dispose of them if they didn't take them. They are on benefits and can't afford cage never mind upkeep. She is bringing them to me and I have arranged a local rescue for them.So tempted to keep them and get them neutered to go in with my girls. One she said,is black longhaired. Hubby would go mad. This helping them is hard.

You've done the right thing, and firstly you have to ask yourself, can you afford another 2 mouths, cage/c&c, time etc.
There are times when you must let your head rule and whilst you may crave to help further you have to be practical. Of course you could be able to do the above, I'm just playing devils advocate really. Probably not helped but you have to think of the long term responsibility.

Well done for helping.

You have helped.have to think of them not me.My girls have 14 square feet and 10 swuare feet each. There is no guarantee that if I did get them neutered they would get on.Tried.my six girls together and full om fight within 10 minutes .Couldn't give the boys that kind of space as girls have their own room cos I have dogs.Just need a good talking to sometimes. Thanks

Oh you are such a lovely person. I would be so tempted too. But you are doing the right thing, you are ensuring their safety and getting them to a place where they can find their forever home. Good job I dont live near you and its a while till I am coming through to visit my sister again or I would be taking them from you! x

Just means I have a spare cage to help more.Where does, your sister live

My sister lives in Middlesborough :) Most of my family live there, but I was raised in Norfolk as my dad moved away. Perhaps you could look into fostering for a rescue - then you would be able to help without having the worry of taking on more little mouths permanently, or compromising the care of your other piggies? x

I would do fostering if I had the space. The joys of living in a tiny one bed house ¬__¬

Way ahead of you.Have told a local rescue can do emergency, fostering, and with my spare cage it means I can help in situations like these.

Got the boys.Rescue coming for them soon.Cute boys .One black snd one black white and tan.Very cute.Took apple out of my hand. The hutch they wete in is 2 foot square and very dark. They stink

The black one has saphire blue eyes and likes to cuddle and the other one nudges your hand for strokes.Pleased debbie is coming for them cos we are rapidly falling in love.Got photos but no computer to put them on the forum. Will ask debbie to on this thread

here are the boys looking for a home. pm me for number if you are interested. They were in my house an hour and didn't want to let them go.

they are such relaxed piggies. I need to win the lottery

Thanks Couldn.t get over the saphire blue eyes of the black one.Never seen that before and he was sooo cuddly and chunky.Totally,in love. if they had been with me overnight wouldn't have let them go

That's lovely news. Thank you for telling us, I love it when there's a happy ending. And you must be feeling really good being part of that happiness!
