hi,
My 2 year old male teddy has a head tilt. I've checked his ears and can see no puss. He is also sneezing and when he eats is making a noise as if when breathing.
Could this be a URI ? I'm taking him to the vets tomorrow as not open until then.
He is still housed with my other guinea pig. I don't really have anywhere to move him to if it is a URI.

Btw he is still eating and drinking. Head tilt only became noticeable yesterday though it wasn't as obvious as today.

You don't have to separate for a URI, but it's always a good idea to have, or make a space somewhere for if you do ever need to move them.

It's probably a URI but it could be something else so it's worth a vet visit.

Please always see a vet promptly with a head tilt. Ear infection doesn't necessarily create pus, but it needs prompt treatment as it can kill. The sooner you see a vet and start antibiotics, the more reversible a head tilt is.
A stroke or neurological issues can also cause a head tilt, but that is for a vet to decide.

Lewis my 12 month guinea pig developed a severe head tilt ,2 months ago.i went to an emergency out of hours vet .Lewis had a chronic ear infection in both ears and UTI /urinary tract infection.he was given full xrays and septrin 0.4 mls twice aday for 21 days.I'm glad to say his head tilt is only very slight now,he could not lift his head from the ground when it first happened.the quicker the head tilt is sorted the better chance of a full recovery.I hope your piggie gets better soon.:)

Quick update. He went to the vets on Monday had a URI. She said it hadn't developed too severely. Had a weeks antibiotics he's now back to his usual self, head tilt gone. Going back tomorrow for a check over as she said one of his glands was enlarged so we need to check its come down. So relieved he's better, had been hiding away. Now he's running to the front for his greens.
