Dindeen
Junior Guinea Pig
My guinea pig was on antibiotics (enov) for a week because he was sneezing, after that week the vet said that the sneezing could be allergies because my piggy's sneeze is not infected. I have changed the type of bedding and arrangement of his enclosure. He is still being given vitamins everyday (vitamin c and a multivitamin that was prescribed by the vet).
This afternoon I noticed that my piggy would walk around and eat with his head tilted, but not all the time, he just tilts it sometimes for some reason but it is not normal for him. He is not out of balance, he runs around fine and even popcorns, he eats well, no change in behavior whatsoever aside from the head tilt, his ear is not swollen (I have checked with a white light), he does not wheek or get annoyed when I touch his neck area/head/ears, he lost a bit of weight while on antibiotics but he regained it within a few days and is still getting heavier. My mom and my sister did not notice the tilt, to them my piggy looked fine, but I noticed it because I always handle him. He has not been dropped or poked and he has a lot of room to run around in his enclosure; I have never poked inside his ear and it does not have wax buildup. I did notice before that he would tilt his head whenever he drank from his water bottle, it seemed to be out of habit, something that he's done since he was a baby even when I change the position of the water bottle.
---
Could my guinea pig have strained his neck while drinking from his bottle? Or if it is an early sign of ear infection, is there another early symptom that I should be checking? I am asking because his vet is a 4 to 5 hour drive away (there are only canine and feline vets in our area), both my piggy and I get very stressed because of the long travelling time. If the vet was close by I would have taken him there already.
Thanks in advance to those who will look at this, especially to those who will give advice.
