Just after Christmas I noticed my poor girlie nibbles was swollen on one side. We took her to the vets and after some tests discovered that she had overian cysts. There were a few pockets of them and some now developing on the other side so too many to drain she is young and still very bright and happy so today she had a hysterectomy! She is home now sore and resting with her sister. When we collected her they said one had already burst inside of her but they cleaned it up as much as possible but I'm now just praying she pulls though as she is such a sweet girl! I knew boys are the ones mostly spayed but was shocked when the vet nurse of some years said it was the first one she had ever been in on!

Fingers crossed for a quick recovery. I had a piggy have an emergency spay at over 4 years old for the same reason and she healed really well and quick. I was also told that it's all sterile in there so if cysts burst there isn't a risk of infection etc but that was to do with a piggy not going through an op.

I'm sure she'll be up to her usual tricks and wheeking for her supper again soon

Thank you! I was a little taken aback when the vet nurse said it, so glad someone else's piggies has had it done started to get worried I've put her through too much but she is so sweet xx

Most of my sows have been spayed on medical grounds. Some have had keyhole surgery and others a full spay. All have come through the surgery well and made a good recovery from it. I’m sure once she has recovered from the operation she will feel much better.

Sending lots of love to your beautiful girl
