My poor foster pig Barney has had to go back to the rescue tonight because he is feeling very under the weather and passing blood today :( I have taken him and his 6 1/2 year old girlfriend Magic. This is the second UTI he has had in two months so I am kind of worried it is something like a bladder stone. I miss them already! Cant wait to get them back! 8... So please healing vibes for Mr Barney McGarry!

Lots of vibes to Barney x

Thank you soooo much everyone for your kind words! Each of my piggies are everything to me especially these two and they are always with me. I am not ashamed to admit when I left them I did have to hold back tears! I hate it when any of them have to go to the vet :(

Right, Barney is back from the vets and he has a thickened bladder wall. Anyone got any experience with this? Do I have to feed him anything in particular to keep him comfortable? I should learn more when I get him back from the rescue but just wondering if anyone has any advice? Just glad he didn't have to have an op!
Thanks! :)

I don't have experience with this condition but would expect a low calcium diet may be of help as with most bladder piggies.
I have a boar who had a stone removed surgically 18 months ago and he has daily diluted Cranberry juice (unsweetened) and a quarter of Cystease capsule - has not had a UTI/Cystitis since so he'es either lucky or the juice helps ?
It would be helpful if you could post any care the Rescue advise for other members to read.
Sending Barney hugs :)p

One of our girls (Putt) had a thickened bladder wall diagnosed when she was 4 & 1/2 years old. She was on a dose of metacam daily (this helped with pain and reducing inflamtion) A Cystease capsule a day which went down to half a capsule and was also given something called Cartrophen injections (these act in the same sort of way as cystease)
