I was contacted by a lady who had a single boar with a dental abscess, she had taken him to the vet and he had the abscess drained and his teeth burred.
Sadly the abscess returned and Biskit was still unable to eat for himself.
The owner couldn't afford more vet treatment and was going to have him put to sleep.
She agreed to sign him over to BARC and l collected him on Sunday 20191020_195436.jpg

Here he is.
He had a dental and his abscess marsupialising yesterday and is already trying to eat for himself.
Hes very thin and weak, but such a fighter!
Please send him your healing vibes...
Thank you x

Sending lots of love to this little one, glad he has found you xx x x

Wishing biscuit the best of health to come, he has the best chances now 🙏 maybe get some oats down him if he wants to eat them 😋

This makes you think of how many must be PTS just from this problem 😔

C'mon handsome little man   , we're all rooting for you here. Fingers & paws all tightly crossed here for a full & speedy recovery

Have you tried giving him a handful of grass or a few dandelions or his favourite herbs or veg/carrot cut into thin strips to tempt him to eat for himself again?
Maybe try handfeeding a dandelion leaf at a time or a few strands of grass/herbs/veg? Hopefully that will kick-start his appetite again.
You're doing brilliantly  keep it up xx

He is stronger in himself but not interested in eating very much for himself. I guess the antibiotics are affecting his appetite. He is a little fighter though! Thank you for asking about him xx
Have you got him any fiberplex?

There's something so heartwarming and satisfying about seeing a pig go from rags to riches. Wish they didn't have to get like this in the first place, and i know he hadn't been mistreated but would have been PTS. I have done it myself with my first boars, they were neglected school pigs and I turned their life's around with the help of the forum, and they became both old pigs, 6 and 7, I saved them when they were 2
