He had a big abscess come up under his chin which was drained under GA on Friday, he was very lively and hungry when he got home but the antibiotics have started to upset his tummy and last night he was very bloated so we went back to the vets today (only went for a check up yesterday) and started him on Emeprid and Zantac. Thankfully the abscess hasn't refilled since yesterday and has healed over so is looking better. We've stopped the antibiotics and are keeping fingers crossed it doesn't fill up again, his poor tummy can't handle the medicine.

The car journey helped a little but he's looking very sorry for himself.

Oh come on Bob - feel better!
I hate Baytril (assuming that's what it was) it upset so many pigs in the rescue who stopped eating. I hope they come up with something better soon.

He's a cutie!

Thanks Lisa. He was on Baytril and Metronidazole. He's such a special little chap I hate seeing him looking so sad.

Oh no Katie :( Sending him lots of vibes and love from our girls. Zantac is great stuff especially when combined with Emeprid we found, lots of massage too. Hoping you can get him back on an even keel soon. I know how worrying it is with tummies and bloat. He is in the best of hands with you x

Love to your beautiful boy x

He does look sad, hope he picks up honey. Sounds like he's got all the right things to.

Just saw this. So hoping he's feeling a bit better today and Kasper (who just had an abscess removed) sends his love xx

Oh dear, poor Bob! I really hope he picks up and starts feeling a little better xx

Aw, poor boy :( I always find any piggy who has had surgery is off colour for a few days - bit like us hoomans :)
Baytril is notorious for causing anorexia in some piggies, my Exotic Vets won't prescribe it.
I'm sure with the gut stimulants you have and with tempting veggies, Bob will be feeling better over the next 24 hours - our Harley took almost a week to recover from a bladder washout in February and the morphine he had knocked him bandy. I was syringe feeding him around the clock to keep his gut moving but it paid off, did nothing for my blood pressure and heart rate but the experience gave me more understanding of slightly older piggies and recovery time from GA etc. The older they are, the longer it takes to bounce back...again, like hoomans :)
Did your Vet give any pain relief - Metacam is great and also an anti-inflammatory so perhaps Bob may be in discomfort which will affect his appetite and his op site may make eating painful :...Always worth asking for.
Sending Bob lots of healing vibes from us here and hugs to you x>> x>>

Fingers firmly crossed for your poorly boy!

myself Bruce & Oswald send Bob all our love and healing vibes, hope he feels better soon x

Thank you all for your good wishes. Bob had been doing so well initially after his op but went down hill very fast even with a brilliant vet and all the right medicines he decided it was his time. We said goodbye to him yesterday. He was 5 this month. His friend Spike and I are very sad.

Oh Katie - so sorry to hear this news honey x x x RIP little guy and hugs to you and Spike

Just to repeat what i said earlier - i'm really sorry to hear the sad news about Bob, he really was lovely. I hope you'll be able to come to a decision about Spike, give him (and my girls!) a hug from me x

Katie, I am so sorry to read this. You did everything possible for him. Massive hugs and love from us both x x

RIP Bob
