Fudge was at the vet today after finding her vulva to be a bit swollen. She has a history of ovarian cysts and currently has some crud in her urethra... So could of been a stone or her hormones.
Turns out her left ovary has ballooned so she is having her 3rd course of hormone injections.
The first course worked wonders and her hair grew back, 2nd course had no effect on her hair loss.. I'm praying it will help this time. They think it should due to the ovary being actively enlarged like it was the first time.
If it doesn't work they will try giving into the muscle instead of under he skin; which won't be easy in an 8 year old arthritic pig with natural muscle wastage. If that doesn't work they will try a different hormone..
Failing that or with any deterioration in the meantime, fudge will be spayed.. Which we are well aware she wouldn't survive this.
Fudge has been in heart failure for over 18 months, has arthritis in her hips/spine/knees, has crud in her urethra and has this ovarian issue.. And she is still the cheekiest, happiest girl I know. She has so much zest for life, she's an inspiration.
I hope this works and we don't need to spay; as I know I will lose her due to her heart failure. But if it comes to it and she is still fighting, I will give her that chance as she deserves that and so much more.
Keep going fudgey, mummy's routing for you x
