Having just successfully treated one of my old ladies (Violet) for a URTI I had hoped to have a brief spell at the end of the year when all 4 piggies were well but no such luck. Last last night I heard strange noises from the dining room where the piggies live. It was Mr Ted with very noisy breathing. It came out of nowhere.
So I steamed the room, gave him some of Violet's left over bisolvon and took him to the vet first thing this morning. Unfortunately he has acute onset pneumonia poor chap which is not what at all what I wanted to hear. I'm just hoping that the meds kick in quickly. Please send healing vibes his way.

Topping up the healing vibes and sending wheeks from Thor and the ladies xx

Thanks for all your lovely good wishes. Mr Ted is currently stuffing his face with premium Timothy Hay. his breathing is no longer noisy although it is still shallow. I'm happy that he doesn't need a syringe feed top up as he's eating veg, pellets and hay and is still interested in everything going on around him. Early days, I know, having lost other piggies in the past to pneumonia, but I'm cautiously optimistic at the moment,

Products | Ozonization
ozone generators are used to ionize the air, negative irons are benifisial to humans with breathing
problems, thats why a holliday by the beach is recomended for convolesants in humans

l have had pigs in the past that have had URIs , and l have an ozone generator , but l find that a electronic fly zapper is just as
efisent in projucing negative irons .is more ificint at ionising the pig room, l have just realised , there has been a distinkt improvment in one of my pigs with cronic breathing isues

, it seems to have made a marked improvment in my
Bella the bullets breathing.

Well, we've been back today for a follow up.

Mixed news. He is more perky and his lungs sound less crackly. However the vet heard a heart murmur today that she hadn't heard before. He had another X-ray and his lungs look improved but not clear and there is still fluid present. As a result of the improvement in the pneumonia she can see a different pattern in his lungs which couldn't be seen before. She thinks that Ted's constant eye problems are an outward sign of an underlying condition/ virus which has been silently affecting his heart/lungs and that the pneumonia may be secondary to this.

We are going to continue with his antibiotics and a diuretic also. He's going back next week for another X-ray and we shall see then if it is possible to get a clearer idea of what is going on. Poor old fellow.

Oh no Vicki, I hope there is further improvement next week when he has his next xray and that you get some answers as to what is going on.

:( Sending continued vibes and love to Mr Ted, hope they can get to the bottom of it soon x

Poor Mr Ted! :( I hope he improves soon, what a brave, hairy little soldier! x

Poor boy. Has he just started diuretics? I have a tip if that's OK? Try to keep his fluids up while he is on it as it can cause electrolyte imbalance. Dioralyte is good.

Thanks @helen105281 he's just started them today. I will pick up some Dioralyte for him in the morning. He really is such a well behaved and good piggy. The vet was astounded how well he sat for his X-rays

Update on my lovely old Mr Ted. Today's X-ray shows further improvement. :yahoo:

Andy took him today so I didn't get all the details first hand but the diuretics have apparently worked, there's no more fluid round his heart and his heart sounds completely normal again. His x-ray today is apparently improved. So he's got another 2 weeks' course of Marbocyl and then a review again. No more diuretics and another change of eye drops. He's such a good little chap. He's starting to look more perky too.

Here's a pic of him and his fuzzy wife.
