Healing Vibes Please Holly Has Colitis

Well today was bring-a-pig-to-work-day. The car was laden down with a large indoor cage, houses, hay, water bottles, meds, syringes.....The office were excited that the piggy was there. The piggy was not. Little Holly refused to move all day and only ate or drank when given by syringe. Didn't touch any solid food or hay. Hid in the back of a house looking miserable as sin. I was really worried about her until we got home and she lept out of the pet carrier, bombed it round the cage and then tucked into a bowl of Timothy Hay with Violet and Poppy. Shows the love they have for each other.
She's still got sore guts (squeaks when pooping) but we are now getting regular small formed poop so things are heading in the right direction.

You know, I remember you saying when you first introduced them you didn't think it would ever work out. Isn't it amazing how much they like to prove us wrong? :yahoo:I'm so glad Holly's doing well. As someone with chronic gut problems, *I* have issues dealing with the pain, I can't imagine a poor pig having to deal with it.

She was a different pig as soon as she kept out from the carrier. And they gave her a ceremonial washing on her arrival home. They really are an adorable trio.
 
I forgot 2 tablets last week for my ulcerative colitis and OOOOOO OUUUUUUCH its been painful! Serves me right I won't do THAT again.
 
She really does squeak with every bowel movement and I have to pick her up extremely gently as she is so tender. It must be so very painful for her. But she's a real little fighter.
 
We all know that and with your expert care and all the tlc you're giving her she's getting better well done!
 
What hay were you using when all of your piggies started with the upset tummies? My pigs have had soft poos over the past week and I think it might be the Oxbow timothy hay.
 
They had a mix of orchard hay & Timothy hay (as usual). Wish I knew what had caused the problem

I've stopped giving mine the oxbow Timothy hay and their poos are a lot better now. Going to return the hay as I haven't had it for long. How is Holly now?
 
We had a review at our own vets today. Little Holly is doing very well. She is pretty much back to normal. She will finish her antibiotics tomorrow and then hopefully all will be plain sailing for her. She is a bit subdued tonight but that's because she and Violet were very close.
