my newest and youngest piggy, YamYam, is really unwell. She’s been to the vets (kept in today) and is back home with me. Having first been on Saturday. She’s only 4 months old. And was so happy she was like a little puppy before she became poorly.

She’s resisting syringe food (I’ve read the guide). So much so if she gets any at all she spits it out.

She’s been fed every two hours as best as possible. But I’m so afraid she won’t make it. She’s lost a lot of weight. Despite being full of beans a week ago, she’s currently sat on me not really moving.

I’m doing everything I can but not sure if it will be enough. It started with an upset tummy. I’ve kept the heating on so she doesn’t get cold. And she has another vets appointment in the morning already booked in. I’m not sure an appointment now would help.

I know no one will see this until the morning. And that I’ve not posted on months. I just needed to get something out there.

Prayers for YamYam..so sorry she is poorly. Does that vet have an idea why she is ill? Do you have an exotics vet in your area? Going though similar things so I feel your pain. x

She may have a parasite from before I rehomed her but they aren’t sure.

She refused all but a mouthful at 6am. Whimpered and pushed away.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.Sending hugs to you xx

Thank you. It isn’t looking hopeful for everything the vets have said. She may have a URI as well as her tummy problem. They’ve been trying to warm her up all morning and it doesn’t seem to have been working. They’re going to see what a specialist says to see if there is anything else. Reading online, they’ve done all the things the sites say you should do.

I am beyond heartbroken.

I really am so sorry and really hope they can do something for her.Its awful when they’re ill and you feel helpless xx

She didn’t make it. They did everything. I did everything.

I feel terrible.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear this, sometimes despite our best efforts we just can’t save them.Hugest of hugs to you xx

So sorry for your loss, you did what you could and unfortunately guinea pigs just aren't as hardy and resilient as many other animals which unfortunately means we loose them sometimes way too soon.

I'm so sorry YamYam didn't make it. :hug:She must have been very happy to live with you, and it's quality what matters, not quantity.
