Have to advise that Star may not be well, could be a suspected UTI. Got back last night to find her bleeding from her nether region. Not a lot, about a 10p piece stain on fleece and clotting on her. Rushed her to vet who after examination suspected possible cystitis or the like. On baytril for the week, she is actually sucking it from the syringe and its not stopping her eating at all.

This is the pig who "tried" a URI for 2 days and decided that was it. (Last year when we lost piggies to URI Star had a wheezy chest for a couple of days but carried on as if it was nothing and has come back stronger. The previous year she suffered a case of heatstroke and survived and last June she was paralysed and made a full recovery. She also used to chirp when she was younger.)

Lots of Healing vibes to beautiful Star, she is a very strong piggie! I hope she gets well soon

Sending lots of healing thoughts and piggie kiss to you and Star xx

Its not like she's any different, running around munching hay like crazy and thats after 2 doses of baytril, one last night and one this morning. She was at the vet within 20 mins of me getting home and seeing the blood, not taking any chances.

How's Star doing today?

I really dont understand this piggy, there has been no further bleeding (which the vet had confirmed was vaginal possibly uterine), there has been no indication of being ill, ie she has been running round etc. She has been literally sucking the baytril from the syringe (is it sweet cos she has a sweet tooth), no loss of appetite due to baytril, instead she has gone from 986 gm to 1004 gm from Thursday at vets to yesterday weigh in. She is bossing the younger sows about, throwing them off the shelf so she has the fleece to herself.

So will someone please explain the bleeding or was it that Astro forced himself on her as she is rumbling this week.

Maybe she just got herself on something Sharp? I once rushed Toffee to the vets because she was bleeding (only slightly, but i wasn't taking any risks) and it ended up that she had just scratched herself on a sharp piece of hay...?

xx
