So we have had our healthy herby hay a week now so I though I would give a review!

we ordered the 2nd cut Timothy hay 5kg for £19.95 with free delivery.
on first impression it’s not as green as hay box but it’s still a very green hay. The second cut Almost felt buttery to touch, although I was expecting less stalky bits, but it still has these they are much softer, pepper & Pringle still will not eat them!

delivery was great we ordered on Sunday and it was delivered on Tuesday, I also like that it’s delivered in 2 2.5kg boxes it makes it much easier for us to store! They also sent us a free sample of 1st cut whichthe boys have eaten, this again seemed very nice but just a bit stalky and sharper.

The piggies are eating it they go straight for it but I feel like I did with hay box Timothy there is still a lot of waste as they won’t touch the stalks!

I would say the Timothy 2nd cut is good and on par with the hay box blend, although just a lighter green colour! and the fact they donate hay to rescues with every purchase is a real bonus and is what would persuade me to order from them over hay box!

Overall the piggies seem happy so I would recommend!

I've got the Orchard and the Timothy first cut from them. I agree that there seems to be a lot getting left of the Timothy...but my boys did that with the Hay Box stuff anyway. The Orchard seems to be going down well - it's a golden green tone whereas the HB meadow was more green/brown.

I like the box size too and the delivery was very quick. Also a big plus with the rescue donations.

I was going to try 2nd cut and Orchard for my next delivery. But currently have half a bale of meadow, 5kg box of haybox Timothy blend and Orchard from TimothyHay.co.uk and bags of green oats and 5aday nature's own... it'll last me a while 😂
I tried not giving the Timothy one day and they still look for it. The Orchard is great for my boy who's not as keen on the Haybox.

I might look at the orchard 50/50 with Timothy next time, thee boys went mad the first time we got meadow from haybox but it was really green and the next boxes were brown and they were not interested, so I’ve gone back to the Timothy. I was thinking of trying the Timothy hay.co.U.K. Soft Timothy to see if that was any less stalky, they are just sooo fussy! I’m happy with the amounts of this they are eating though!

We‘ve had the same problem! They were absolutely mad for the timothy last year but when it got to autumn and the hay was brown they wouldn’t touch it. We ordered the tester pack from Healthy Herby to check how they like the orchard and it went down like a treat! They didn’t leave a single strand of hay; just like with the meadow last summer. So definitely worth a shot for your guys!

I have one boy who's not too keen on haybox Timothy, so having to get mix of everything for him. He liked the meadow from Haybox, but it was so short it just fell out of haybags... He likes the Orchard from TimothyHay.co.uk. The others eat Orchard, but seem to prefer the Haybox Timothy :hmm:
Guessing they have too much choice 😂

The soft from timothy hay is soft, not stalky at all. The girls seemed to prefer the more stalky one but I worry for hay poke. But all four guzzle the meadow from haybox (thank you again) and ings like there’s no tomorrow.

Yes my two boys are leaving A LOT of the stalks from our last hay box delivery. 🙁. I expect some wastage but I’m throwing loads away. Not worth it. They won’t touch orchard hay. But do like the meadow hay from hay box. So might stick with that for a while and see how it goes.

That’s good to know, I think i will give that a try next month! If I had space to have a variety of hay in for them I would but we just don’t have room! Glad your girls are making use of our unwanted meadow!

I do sometimes wonder why did I move away from pets at home hay, they ate that when we first got them 😂😂and now they are so demanding!

but I’m pretty sure it bought bugs into our flat so....

And boys 😉

To add another review: we’ve just had our Healthy Herby delivery, having previously had HayBox Timothy, and also using a local pet shop for meadow hay. I love the box size; much easier for me to store 2.5kg boxes than the 5kg HayBox size, (which I ended up splitting myself. Result: a hay mess everywhere!)

I ordered Timothy, Timothy 2nd cut and Orchard, so hedging my bets. I’d say the Timothy is very similar to HayBox from what I can see. The second cut is definitely softer, and seems to be going down very well with the piggies. Like others, I always had a lot of wastage with the HayBox Timothy as they left the very stalky bits. I’m hoping the softer stalks are more palatable!

The Orchard seems soft and stringy, so perfect for burrowing in, which my piggies love! They’ve always liked the pet shop hay I’ve previously bought for the same reason. It smells amazing, but comes in plastic bags so isn’t great for storage, or the environment. They very rarely seemed to eat it though, so I’ll be interested to see what happens to the Orchard.

My Piggies also love the orchard grass and dandelion. I have a question, do any of you know if it would be safe to use the cardboard box the hay came in as a hidey for the guinea pigs? Or do you think it's a bit plasticy? Many thanks 🥰

From the Healthy Herby website...Our corrugated cardboard boxes are the leading sustainable packaging choice, due to their recyclability, reusable and biodegradable credentials. The inks used to print our boxes are water based, but what's really special is the replacement of traditional ink binders and additives with natural and renewable materials, such as sugar cane, tree resin and vegetable oils. Which means this 'state of the art' ink is safe for rabbits and guinea pigs to gnaw

I cut a box in half and then cut some doors in...the boys love them although they've already started stripping them down too.
