Hey guys. Ive noticed within the past 2 or 3 weeks Callies been getting more and more lethargic but otherwise is totally healthy. She has ovarian cysts but is being treated every 19 days with a hormonal injection called lupron. I have a vet tech come to the house and does it for me. She doesn't have any cage mates because she is so darn aggressive towards them but she gets extra floor time, extra toys and extra cuddles because of it. She does have a bit of a small cage (it's a commercial store bought cage) but as I said extra floor time.
Her weight is up and down but hasn't significantly dropped which is normal for her. She's 3 almost 4 years old. She eats, poops and pees, wheeks normally. Should I be worried?

She is either feeling depressed, has got side effects to her injections or may have got something else going on (heart?). It may be worth talking to your vet about it. Has she got interaction with the other piggies through the bars?

No, she doesn't have any interaction with any other piggies thru the bars. It's unfortunate because I do have a large cage (i used to have 4 piggies) but there's no rescues around where I can take her to see if she'll get along with any other pigs.
From what I understand these injections should have no side effects at all. She's been having them since probably April and this is the first time she's shown any problems. The best vet I can take her to is in Toronto- they specialize in small animals. They're the ones who figured out the drug for the injection. The only problem is they're an hour and a half away.
Do you know how they go about checking her heart? Because I might be able to take her to a local vet. The local vet was able to do an ultra sound and xray on her in the past.

Do you know that there is a good standard guinea pig rescue that often has got neutered boars in the wider Toronto area? Piggles Rescue | Facebook

Oh my goodness I had no idea! Thank you so much. I'm going to contact them right away! See if I can set Callie up!

Best of luck! I have been following Piggles Rescue on facebook for a couple of years now. They are doing a great job in their part of Canada. ;)

Hi! How did you get on with the rescue, any news?

She may well be depressed but Just a thought- normally hormone injections are given for 2-3 dose course 7-14 days apart, its not normally an ongoing thing. This may be causing her upset. Id also recommended having her checked over by a vet for her cysts considering she is not herself.

Best rule out a health condition before you assume its depression x
