Two of the rescue babies I had are now living with my neighbour, and she is smitten with them. However, they are very skinny - 7 weeks old, and they weigh 254g and 302g. They didn't have the best start to life, what with mum being ill with mange and being kept in a tiny hutch, often without food and water.
They're being fed on Wagg Optimum and getting veggies twice a day, always have hay, (I've made her a huge advice sheet!) but they are very skinny.
Is this dangerously thin, or shall we give them more time to make the most of the TLC they're recieving, and see if they improve?

They are on the small side, but I think they should be OK; they will hopefully come on from their very bad start in life. One of my first piggies was a tiny bag of just bones and fur that weighed about the same and yet she grew to a respectable adult weight of 950g. Shop piggy, of course - that's when I learned my lesson!

How much weight are they putting on in a week - that is much more of an indicator of whether they are doing OK. If they are putting on between 30-50g a week, then all is fine.

If not, is it worth asking your vet whether they could be wormed at their age?

Well this week is the first time I have weighed them - but I've told them to weigh them each week, or at least let me come over and do it for them.
If there is no improvement then yes, I'll ask about worming :) Thanks.
