Many of you know my lovely little girl Cagney is just getting over pneumonia and the discovery of heart problems.

She has been on Fortekor (since last Monday) and is still on frusol. She weighs 926g now. She was prescribed quarter tablet once a day and is on 0.2ml frusol three times a day. However, whilst v happy in herself she is still bellowing a but and her respiration rate is still high. The last three days I doubled her dose to half a tablet but she is still the same. She is 4.

Just interested in your views? Seeing vet tomorrow ....

Have a read of the article I mentioned as it discusses different dosing and the scope there is for higher doses, you could then show it to your vet.

It may be that she needs to be on slightly higher Frusol for a while.

My doses of Fortekor if it helps are as follows:

Fuzzy, Sophie and Millie: 1.25mg a day split in 2
Star and Mabel: 1.5mg a day split in 2
Ellie: 1.75mg a day split in 2

I would also ask your vet about Vetmedin as some pigs needs this in addition to Fortekor.

One of our boars suffered from heart problems and was on both Fortekor and Vetmedin for about 1.5 years. (He has sadly passed away.)

I seem to remember that the Fortekor was 1/4 tablet daily and the Vetmedin was 1/10 tablet twice daily, although we increased that dosage as months went on, as far as I recall.
