Can anyone help with care for our heart piggy. About to start furosemide. Should I be asking the vet for anything else? This is completely new territory for me.

Hi there. I have no clue but I’ll tag @Wiebke @VickiA @furryfriends (TEAS) perhaps give more details about what the vet found and the dosage etc.
thanks - all we know is he had an enlarged heart. Starting medication fuseride (sp) and monitoring respiration for a week and the review. An ultrasound would provide more insight but would cost between 300-500. Having spent 350 we will see how meds go and review.

We’ve got a piggy with a heart issue and she has Frusol (liquid Frusemide) each end of the day. We started her on a low dose, but she’s now on 0.35 - 0.4ml twice daily.
Thanks furry friends. We have sorted frusemide today. 0.25 once a day. Can I ask over what period you increased the dose and how is your piggy now? Breathing is better? Do you know exactly what is going on with the heart? Does the vet monitor? Does your piggy have a cage mate?

Maddie was started on 0.2ml of Frusol, twice daily, but now needs 0.4 ml, twice daily. Without the Frusol her breathing is very pronounced and she nods with every breath. She sees the vet regularly, as she also has dental issues. She lives with her brother (neutered). She is currently very stable.
