Yesterday I noticed Peter was suffering a little. He seemed lethargic, a bit wobbly, his coat looked a bit raggedy compared to normal, and he ate but not with his usual gusto. I also noticed his nose was a little wet. I listened to his breathing etc which seems to be normal. I nipped home from work at lunch to check on him and he was still a bit sluggish. I have booked him into the vets tomorrow and will finish work early to get him there. I know it was the hottest recorded day in July for Leicester since 1868 so I don't know if he was starting on heatstroke or if there is something like a URI or heart problem going on.

Obviously I know that the vet is the best person to diagnose and treat but wondered if anyone had anything else to look out for or how to differentiate

Aw no poor Peter.

Have you tried gently cooling Peter off to see if it helps? It may give a clue as to whether heat has contributed or not x

it does sound like the heat. not too long ago, i ended up at the vets with benjie because he was like this. turns out it was the heat in his case. he doesn't tolerate it very well. he was a bit quiet yesterday aswell when it was the hottest day so far. he didn't seem to be constantly eating as normal, but wanted to rest and stay cool. but he did seem a bit upset by the heat. luckily the cooling items worked well. i did buy him a fan but when i went to use it, it was faulty!

so it does makes sense with the heat, but definitely always worth a check over if you are worried. :)

It is most likely to be the heat, mine were lethargic last night, however, the heat can really affect heart pigs so you are right to get that ruled out. Does he have any other heart pig symptoms such as:

Weight loss/failure to thrive
Recurring respiratory infections
Heavy sleep/difficult to rouse from sleep
Laboured breathing/nodding
Hooting, sometimes followed by a cough
Blue tinge to extremities such as nose, lips and ears
Bumblefoot

My two boys were ultra quiet and laying around next to the ice pods. Def def didn't like it. Their room was at 25c even at 11pm... Hope Peter is ok

I thought Peter had lost weight because he looks and feels skinnier but he's still 1205g which is only 4g different to the weekend.

He's not necessarily displaying any other symptoms. He didn't run away when I tried to pick him up last night when I got in from work either. That said, when I went to check on him around 8pm he seemed fine and a bit more spritely.

I do think it's more likely to be heat but given he is around 6 years old and covered in fat lumps that the vet believes is also lymphoma I worry about his comfort a lot

Thanks Helen. We went to the vets anyway and she had a good listen to his heart and breathing. He's even more spritely today so the assumption is just that he struggled with the heat but will keep a close eye on him just incase
