How many heat pads would I need for 5 piggies? I had never heard of them before joining this forum. How big are they? Are they expensive?
 

This tends to be the main type that people use. It goes in the microwave.

As it's made of plastic it doesn't get too hot like a hot water bottle, and it won't burst.

£13.99 isn't too bad a price at all. Sometimes Amazon has a sale on them and they're about £10.
 
Hi Jaycey your image didn't download. Could you try again please? Also how many would I need for my family of 5?
 
We use one heat pad for each pair of boys, so I'm guessing you'll be ok with three heat pads. It depends on how chubby your little munckins are and if they are likely to squabble over it. We've never had any problems and they love them :)
 
Thanks my piggies are quite small. The smallest is a fully grown boar of 700g and his brother is 900g. The 3 girlies are only slightly larger. I'll get 3 just to be on the safe side.
 
So I have now ordered 2 Snugglesafe Heatpads got them for £12 each. The person I ordered them from only had 2. I'll see how I get on with them before I order another. Hopefully they'll arrive soon and my piggies appreciate them!
 
I'm so excited! (sad I know!) the heat pads arrived today. No more chilly piggies! I shall be heating them up tonight and popping them in the hutch (the heat pads, not the guinea pigs I hasten to add):blink:. Snuggly warm piggies from now on! Lovely! I still have my leccy blanket on at night so I expect my pigs will be pleased with their own version:lol!:

Well I put the heat pads in and they were treated with suspicion :yikes:. What is it? Is it safe? We'll just look at it shall we see if it moves? My piggie family were staring at both heat pads for about five minutes before I put down the blanket and duvet that covers the hutch. I thought I'd leave them to it and see what the reaction is tomorrow night.
 
This morning there were 2 happy piggies hogging the heat pads and 3 not so happy piggies who had obviously been kicked off. It was interesting to see that Velvet the dominant female and Christian the dominant male both had the heat pads and only allowed Meg and Betsy into the 'sleeping area' of the hutch where I had put the heat pads poor Dennis was in the 'day area'. I may have to get some more!
