Okay so I let my guinea pigs out in the run this evening. Their run provides a sheltered area in shade for them to get away from the sun; and at the moment the run is mostly creating shade. There's also a water bottle out there.

I check on the pigs every ten minutes and as I looked in; I saw Smudge (9 month old piggy) lying there on her side, head up, apparently breathing a little more heavily. However; I quickly bent and tried to pick her up - she immediately hopped up and started coming towards me for a nose rub; and is now wandering back outside for more grass.

Just worried if that's a sign of light heat stroke or something? Extremely concerned. Mums currently yelling at me about coming in for tea and she's fine but wanted to ask.

No, a guinea pig with heat stroke is very apathetic, panting and lying flat on the belly; they MOST DEFINITELY do not jump up when you lift them! I think very much that yours was just fast asleep! ;)

Don't worry about panic moments, I panic all the time. You are a very caring piggy slave to some beautiful piggies. Glad they got to enjoy some grass.
