Heathcliffes Vet Visit

Took heathcliffe to the vets to get him checked cos worried his testicles hadn't descended.Turned out I was right.He is getting neutered on Thursday, no choice now.Means he can go in with Jasmine when it is safe.Toyed with the idea of rehoming him with a boar but that isn't an option.Vet said shelties are more susceptible to anesthetic so am worried.Wouldn't be doing it if I didn't need to.Wasn't that worried about Kyle, am worried about him.Makes me even more glad I took him on, could have easily gone undetected.

Wonder if worth putting out a separate warning @sport_billy for anyone with boars with same issue.Vet said if I hadn't spotted it he could have ended up with cancer due to them not hanging outside the body properly.

Fingers crossed for a successful op and fast recovery for Heathcliffe. It really is a good job that you noticed and agree that a seperate thread is a good idea as a warning to others.

Heathcliffe is doing fine.I was allowed to bring him home.He has had some critical care and some veggies and munched on some hay.

Bit if a setback.Hardly any poos this morning and no wee.Swelling at the incision.Took him for his two day check and he has lost weight.They are keeping him in to syringe him and watch him.Giving him pain relief, critical care and gut stimulants.

Took heathcliffe back to vets for check up and she is pleased with him.Back in two weeks unless he goes backwards.He is still swollen but he is clean.She said because it was more intrusive she used dissolvable stitches that would help him heal quicker by forming scar tissue to stop a hernia and she had to stitch it into his skin to stop anything falling out.She is really good and I am very impressed with her knowledge and commitment to him.Anyone in Cumbria I would highly recommend a trip to her for anything guinea pig related especially operations.
