So I moved the piggies outside but I’m wondering how long the heatpads last. I’ve been heating them before bed and when I wake in the morning. Their hides are covered with fleece and they have pieces of fleece inside the hides. I’ll start stuffing them with hay as well as it’s quite chilly now.

They say 10 hours but i am doubtful - I think between 6 and 8 hours.
however, I have, in the past, had a piece of vetbed on the bottom of the cage, then put the heatpad with a hidey over the top and then stuffed the entire hutch with hay and I did find that the vetbed seemed to help kept the pads warmer for longer and I was more likely to get them to 10 hours (they was certainly some warmth in them in the morning). Downside of that is getting hay off of vetbed is a nightmare.

The girls have pigloos and the boys have wooden houses. I'm thinking maybe I could put the heatpads on top of the pigloos as the heat could maybe warm it that way...but I don't know that it would work with the wooden houses. I'll switch to boxes once I can get hold of some. I need more newspaper and bedding as well.
