Heaving Hiccups for more than 2 hours?

Hi!
I have just purchased a beautiful guinea pig called Penelope, I have been with her for only 2 days, today when I waked up I got scared because she was jumping involuntary to the front, I investigated and read about heaving hiccups but I read that they dont last long and Penelope has been doing this for 2 hours! she looks tired, like she wants to sleep but she cant because of his body jumping, she now has his head on the ground.

The jumps on the beginning where continious now each one is very separated from the other, in fact each moment they are getting more separated...

She looks very distressed and her breathing is sightly erratic. I'd suggest a trip to the vet just to be on the safe side x
 
I agree - please get her vet attention quickly, there may be a blockage in her throat or trapped behind her back of her teeth.

Agree with the others - please get this little one seen by a vet :(
She isn't in a tank is she...sorry the glass front just made me a bit concerned :...
Some of my piggies get heaving hiccups but pass within a few seconds but this is definitely one for your vet asap.
 
Aww, bless her. Poor love. I hope you manage to get her seen by a vet...2 hours is a long time for heaving hiccups. I hope she's ok and it's nothing serious.
 
Penelope is now with the vet. :(

On my way to the vet she began to pee blood.
I have to return to see her at the vet in an hour.

It's good that you're taking her to the vet ,but it does look like a tank? Guinea pigs require a lot of space. Also, is she a lone pig? Only because naturally gps do better in pairs. Let us know how she gets on at the vets.
 
oh goodness, that doesn't look good. hope the vet can find out what is wrong. hope she will be ok.
 
Hello, how is Penelope today?

My advice to go to the vet was posted before I watched the video as it was obviously an emergency situation. Having watched it, I am very concerned that she is having contractions from attempting to pass a pup that is too large or her labour is too early. Possibly the heaving is due to an internal urinary/intestinal blockage that she is trying to pass, it's hard to say without seeing her.

I am so pleased you went to the vet, I do hope that she will be coming home to you soon.

As other have mentioned, the tank in the video is a concern - we will be very happy to advise on the most suitable types of caging, bedding, food, etc once Penelope's condition is resolved.

I was going to say she looks like she is having contractions also.
I hope the reason she is in the tank is that you wanted to keep an eye on her, and she doesn't live in there permanently.
How is she?
