Flamestriker
Adult Guinea Pig
and I have no idea what to do!
OK...calm down. You just spent £80 on a 5 x 2 grid cage for the girlies...
Gulp! I don't know where it's going to go. I don't know where it's going to fit. I don't even know if puppy pads and Aubiose is suitable for C & C cages!
I did it because I wanted to give my piggies more room during the day when I'm in work. I have only had the Slyline Maxi 6 or 7 weeks, but although the piggies come out in their run whenever I am home, sometimes I work 12 hour shifts. The current cage is fine, but I want more room for them to zoom in...
So why am I in a tizz? I don't want to get more stuff like fleece, as I don't think my washing machine could cope with the extra work on top of what I already wash in a week. Would puppy pads and Aubiose work? I could use a liner underneath if bits fall out between the edges of the base.
Will I need extra grids and connectors in case they break? How strong are these cages?!
Oh dear

. Get a tape measure out and establish where it is going to go. Handy hint - to make the round plastic connectors easier to push onto the grids pop them into some hand-hot water to make them more pliable. Once you have had a few practices at putting one grid next to another you will get the hang of it. There is no harm in experimenting with different bedding, lots of forum members swear by Aubiose! I use fleece just because I always have. The cages will stand quite a lot of wear and tear, new sheets of correx are available but I have had mine quite a few years and despite a few stains and tiny nibble marks it is doing great. It comes in and out of the attic as my foster piggies come and go, so takes a fair bit of bashing. Good luck, just think how happy your piggies are going to be
