I bought them 2 heat pads - he says they have fur to keep them warm so they don't need 'hot water bottles!'. They have a new strawberry house - he says they have a hutch so why do they need that? The piggies have a nice new bendy pipe - he says they have a bit of old 4" pipe so they don't need a bendy pipe. They have new playsticks as a hidey - he said they have 2 blue garages (hideys) so they don't need any more.

I love my piggies so why not pamper them a bit? They are going to be around for a long time so they will get the benefit and enjoyment out of everything I have bought them so far and everything I buy for them in the future.

If he took the time to get to know them I'm sure he'd feel the same. It was his idea (helped along by me of course) to get them. My Mum always said if you want something put the idea in his head let him think about it for a while and then he'll come up with the idea himself!

haha I don't get any of that at all, they are my piggies and I have my money and he never moans about what I choose to spend my money on (not that he would dare)

My hubby gave up years ago complaining or even commenting on how much I buy for the pigs. He realised that his complaining didn't change anything. He has spent a fortune on his hobbies over the years and I have pointed out how tolerant I have been - so if we treat the piggies as my "hobby" then he has no right to object.

My partner always has a go at me for buying stuff for the pigs or tells me there all I talk about lol x

My husband is not a pet person (actually, when we first got married he liked our hedgehog- he was upset when she died, never liked another pet again.) At this point, I am in charge of everything for the pets (along with the kids) and he does his best to pretend they aren't there. We have separate money so we don't argue over who spends on what, but I know he would rather not have had any pets after we had the kids.

Every time I go shopping I hear and what did you buy the pigs today, he's laughing as he says it though. My OH knows what a difference having the guineas has made to me and as it's my money I can spend it as I like. He often offers to chip in too on the bigger buys, he's as piggy smitten as I am really!

Lucky you I wish mine was!

I'm a single mum, my pets are my hobby and any chance I get I'm spoiling them, all be it on a limited budget! the dogs even recognise the blue carrier bag when I come back from our local pet supplies, they're like " ooh mum, what have you got us!?" I know crazy lady!

That's interesting. Once upon a time my fella said "if we get Guinea pigs they will be your pets". So we rescued a lonely pig from his brother and got her a friend and four months later we took them to my parents house a day before we went on Holiday so they could pig sit and my fella HATED it! He said the flat was too quiet without them. I kept chuckling at him because it was so adorable and he would tell me off because he loves our pigs and missed them a lot but felt like he needed to be a man about it. Maybe you're other half needs to be more involved and he'd come around to their charms.

I am very glad of the day you persuaded me to get the two bundles of fur in my avatar that started our piggy journey. Seems like a lifetime ago now!

The two piggiescin your avatar are beautiful, especially the closer one. You never stood a chance, @Mrs Sport_Billy picked just the right ones to win you over and we are all glad she did!
