Dr John examined Peanut today and said since he can wrap his fingers around her lump he believes it is a tumor/cyst. He said that he could most likely remove it successfully, but his major concern was the anesthetic. So what should I do? I poked around the site a bit and I see some of you had cysts removed from our little loves and others have not. What are some outcomes or some pros and cons. We are scheduled for next Tue. so I have a couple days to decide and during that time I will closely watch her activities.
Thanks for your concern and help,
Peanuts mom

Hi love :)
Sorry but Mary wont be on till tomorrow now..... sleep time :D :D :D
Our little guy has had many abscesses lanced under anaes and has come out of it fine O0 It takes a couple of days for them to be totally right again, but as long as your little Peanut has fluids and foods straight away after surgery this is a good sign :) :) :)
Good luck for next Tuesday please let us know how things go O0
I'm sure if you come on and look tomorrow there will be lots more answers from people who've experienced this type of op O0

i agree with glynis, is your vet piggy savy? if you PM maryh perhaps her vet could email your vet as she did mine in australia. our little piggy zoe had her reproductive organs taken out as her ovaries were cystic and she had a mass weighing 20grams growing on the outside of her uterus. zoe is 3 and a half and she made it through the surgery. then due to antibiotics, surgery, change of diet she developed runny poops. just now she is getting herself right. she had the surgery january 17th aussie time.
did your vet say whether it will grow? restrict peanut in her activities? i would see if maryh's vet would email your vet and discuss the surgeryand any concerns you have. they were both angels where our little zoe was concerned. wishing you luck, hugs and cuddles and to sweet peanut too. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Hello Peanuts Mum,

Where abouts is the lump? and how large. If it is a cyst it does not need to be removed.,the same goes for tumour but it depends where the tumour is sited and what type of tumour.

The safest aneastheitic for piggies is isoflurine or vesoflurine.

If Dr.John can wrap his fingers round the lump it6 is unlikely to be a tumour because they are normally attached.

If this vet is not used to operating on gps I would try and find another vet,or ask Dr.John if he would be willing to consult another vet by email. The vet I have in mind is a gp expert.
