Hi all,
Glad to join you all
I own 5 piggies and have been a g.pig owner for 29 years!
I have recently been hearing about how on the rare occasion, that guinea pigs and other pet rodents can catch a virus called LCMV or Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus. It is more common in wild mice.
Anyway, apparently if a pregnant woman catches this virus, it can cause serious damage in her developing fetus.
I am hoping to become pregnant but don't want to re-home my piggies unless absolutely necessary. :-\
Does anyone know anything about this?
I have owned them for over a year now.
Would it be o k if my husband cleaned the pigs, so that I avoid their poop and urine.
Thanks for any help,
GiGi
