Been a hectic few weeks, but will be back on h&i every now and again from now on!

Don't think there's enough letters allowed on a post to say what's been going on with fudge and Crunchie .. But rowan and poppet are well!

In summary, fudges heart failure is progressing but she's finally responding to a change in heart meds and increased diuretics.

She has increasing bladder crystals and a partial blockage of crud In her urethra.. Surgery isn't an option so we're getting some special food shipped from the US that's made by a biologist and it's aim is to clear the bladder, break down calcium deposits and generally improve bladder health- we'll see how that goes.

She's had a few courses of hormone injections, but sadly the hormonal imbalance is back - although positively there is no enlargement of the ovary this time as yet! Discussing a long term fortnightly hormone injection treatment once her hearts stable.

Crunchie's had yet another dental.. It's never ending!

But I currently Have a very happy fudge .. Wheeking her head off and running riot the past few days. Haven't seen her sleep in a while! Crunchie recovered well from her anaesthetic... But my bank account has been hit with £600 since last month- think it's recovery time will be longer!

I swear it's like having children...

On a positive note, the girls have a lovely new floor time area with some carpet for fudges old legs!

When I saw you on the hay thread I hoped you might be putting some photos of the girls on soon! Fudge looks amazing as ever.

Lovely photos of 3 amazing girls. Glad the piggies are doing well. Sorry to hear about your expenses though.

I've been thinking about you and the girls wondering where you've been :) glad everyone is ok and with us x

Hi stranger good to see you & your piggies. Don't leave it so long next time. Noooooo it's not like having kids, we would spend £600 a day equipping them with new uniform & books for secondary school.

Hiya - can you at sometime post the name and details of the food your getting from the states so I can pass the info on to my vet? Fudge looking gorgeous as ever xx

Kids would be cheaper!

Fudges account has a total of £4000 odd quid at the minute.. We've been at that practice 18 months! This isn't taking into account Crunchie's bills and her 5 dentals.. As well as the late mallows bills. Fudges medication is currently £128 a month.

Her new food was £76 for a 4kg bag.. I'm over £100 a month on hay..

I could go on !

Iv recently went Vegan, so at least I can share the pigs veg I'm buying :D

Sherwood pet healths adult Guinea pig food. It's pretty high on calcium but they have the view that calcium isn't the issue and it's the balance of minerals and the crap and molasses you geT in standard food. It's grain and soya free and the website explains all about why there is a Timothy and alfalfa mix in the pellet and why the calcium levels.

Only problem is it cost £54 just to have it shipped to the uk.

My vet is on board!

Why Alfalfa?

Oh no, sorry to hear about your piggie health woe's :(
I always love seeing pic's of Fudge, she always looks like a happy little piggie in spite of her health issues.

Fab to see you again Adele! :) Great photos as usual of your adorable furries :luv:

So lovely to see your piggies especially Fudge doing well! That picture of you and Fudge is just adorable! :luv:

I had to take some time as both fudge and Crunchie weren't doing well, and honesty didn't think I'd be back on saying fudge was slowly stabilising.. I thought she was coming to the end of her time so was focusing all my energy on her.

I'm fully aware that with so many extra problems lately , she doesn't Have long left. She will eventually get to a point that she's suffering with her Ovaries or her urethra blocks completely.. At that stage I will give her the chance at the spay or bladder op (probably both if we got there) but my vet has made it abundantly clear she is extremely unlikely so survive an anaesthetic.

Can only hope.. And keep going as long as she's happy X

@Adelle It's so good to see you back and with good news, no matter how long that good news lasts, it's so nice to see Fudge is still a happy piggy, and lovely to see you of course!
Let's hope this new food does the trick. You certainly have and are trying with every resource you have, and Fudge still being here is most certainly a testament to you not giving up on a piggy who is also not ready to give up. As you say, you will know when the time comes, and if she doesn't pull through her next op if she requires one, then I suppose it is meant to be at that point.

But for now here she is, still happy, still finding energy there, and still very much part of your life.

I hope Crunchie doesn't have to need dentals often. Hugs to your bank account to!

Thank you! Hope you are all well xx

Yes we're fine thanks, Lost sweet Oreo very recently and suddenly, cause unknown. My remaining four are living as one herd. Apart from that no changes on the piggy-front.
My little boy turned 18, got a car just before and is quite independent now. Other lad enjoying Uni but is a bit bogged down. Hubby STILL recovering from an almost 3-year old shoulder injury, but is otherwise well. I have recently changed jobs and am enjoying it. I have recently found I have high blood pressure and am awaiting a 24 hour monitor. That's my news :) But not my thread (but you asked :) )

It sounds like you've had a lot on, as you have had since Fudge became ill. I hope you've been OK through all of this x

Life can get so busy cant it! I'm so sorry you lost Oreo :-( It never gets easier :(

Did your hubby try the golden paste (turmeric) for his shoulder? That's an awful long time to be suffering!

Sorry to hear you've been poorly yourself, hopefully being happier in your new job will help your blood pressure!xx

I don't want to take over your thread Adelle. But yes hubby is on Tumeric pills, (thanks for the suggestion and to everyone else who suggested it a while back) and there's been an improvement in other areas that had been subject to injuries in the past and a persistent neck-ache has gone, but his shoulder is still the same :)

I suspect my blood pressure is not stress related. I'm in the middle of a 2.5 week break and am chilled out and there's no difference. My salt level is low and has been for most of my life. My cholesterol is very good. My home life is very good. I am home-monitoring and it makes no difference when I take it and what I'm thinking about or feeling at the time, whether I've been relaxing or doing housework, or what my heart rate is, it's just permanently high.

I'll create a new thread and keep this one for you and Fudge, I never meant to dilute your thread hun! x

How rubbish for you, hopefully they get to the bottom of it soon and get it down to a safer level.

The golden paste has extra properties than just turmeric on its own- the oil that you make it with makes it more easily digestible and the black pepper added at the end enhances the turmerics anti inflammatory properties by 2000% meaning you can take a lot less of the actual turmeric but still have a more powerful effect.

I give it to fudge for her arthritis but minus the pepper.. As the pepper can enhance medication too if given at the same time so needs to be spaced apart.. And there's not enough hours in the day to space something else apart from fudges meds! She's already on 6 different drugs, 3 Every 12 hours and 3 every 8 hours!

Lovely to see them again!

Worth every penny though aren't they?
