Dear all

I'm so worried about where the hutch should be. I have a hutch with a ramp and 'downstairs' run area. It's not too big as I only have on pig as he fights with others and is our re-home baby.

I can have his hutch on slabs (I prefer this as it will help his claws and he eats more variety) or on the grass.

I go back to work next week so won't want to leave him in a run when I'm out.

Where is best do you think?

Also lots of people use hay for bedding but I was told to use wood shavings. I put him in an upturned box stuffed with cosy shavings and crumpled newspaper and change it every day.

thanx all

Hello :) I can't offer much help as I have indoors piggies but personally, now the weather isn't as good, I would put the hutch on slabs because that way he will be able to access the run whatever the weather, whereas if it's on grass you'll have to restrict access to it if it's raining etc, as piggies shouldn't go on damp/wet grass. Hope that helps - will he be going into a shed or garage when we go into the winter months? :)

Ahh I thought so, he is now on the slabs and I can clean his droppings away easier too. :D We have a cage for colder weather and a run which we can have indoors. He could also go in the shed but I would prefer him close.:hug:I have a self heat pad coming too and if it's good I'll get more for daytime outside snoozing.

Appreciate your time XX
