hello people

well its been a roller coaster of events this past two weeks. Found a lump in teddys neck took him to the vets it was an absess so he had an operation to remove it. scar healing nicely but had to seperate him from david so david couldnt chew the stitches. Sadly teddy has been very distressed being away from david, not been eating as much and has lost a little weight. Teddy is a very timid guinea that we rescued off a lovely lady called 'nutmeg' on the forum.

I kept putting teddy back with david and immediately teddy comes out starts chirping, eating and generally seems very happy.

Now comes the problem. I took teddy to the vets yesterday to have his stitches out. Vet said to put them back together as i explained that teddy is very sad being on his own. i have put them together tonight and they are on the verge of falling out. david is constantly mounting him i have never seen him like this he wouldnt even eat his veg he is just constantly mounting teddy and basically wont leave him alone. Now is coming the teeth chattering. this has now been going on for about 3 hours. not really sure what to do because if i seperate them teddy is very unhappy. Teddy really needs a friend as he is very timid.

i am absolutely heartbroke because i have been out and spent a fortune on a new cage this week a huge one to give them more space, and now this is happening. i have never seen david as bad as this and i am scared that he is going to hurt teddys scar which is still healing. But then on the other hand teddy isnt eating when he isnt with david.

i am totally at a loss on what to do. and at the moment i am wondering whether rehoming teddy is the best option and finding him a proper friend who he can live happily with. if any one could offer me any help i would appreciate it. as you can imagine i am very upset and fed up but i have to think about what is right for teddy and i am not quite sure what that is right now.

Hugs!

I know this might sound a bit trite but.......

I now have 6 single boars that are fallen out pairs owing to ill health. I cannot get them each new partners on financial grounds.......they currently live next to their originally bonded mates and they alll actually seem to be quite happy....provided they don;t occupy the same space at the same time!

Might be worth getting a new "date" for Teddy - but if they are in sight and sound of other piggie company and are thriving I don;t think getting new bonds/extra piggies is necessarily the best answer.

It's whether the pig is really really having a problem not living with ANOther.......

HTH - you;ve got my number if you want a chat!

Did you try a bonding bath? (Not neck area just below shoulders for both) and clean out the bonding area? :)

Hmmm boys are so difficult some times!

thanks people. my boyfriend elliot stayed with the pigs all night. today they are suprisingly calmer and no mounting/rumble strutting so i am hoping they will be ok.

just dreading going on hol next month when they will be up routed again and sent to the pig sitter.
