I have just cleaned out the piggies cage and there were loads of ants around and in their food bowls! I clean them out every 2 days so they dont smell and arent dirty. Is it the veggies attracting the ants? The piggies dont always finish all their veg (I may be giving them too much) so should I remove what they dont eat right away?
I have been leaving the back door open for my daughter to play in the garden so I guess they have just been coming in the back door. What do I do?

ant rid works a treat if you have it over there but dont put it where other pets can get to it hardware stores or supermarkets should have something similar.you just put it in a little pile(it tastes like caramel) and they all go to that area which meens you don't have to put it anywhere near the hutch

Umm what a mystery. It could be the fruit and veg that has attracted them. What food do you normally feed them? I tend to give my girls a little bit of veg in a bowl and leave it in the hutch for about an hour. Anything that is left, I throw away and give them a little more later on in the day. Is the piggies cage on the floor? If so, you could try and put it on a table or something away from the floor. Sorry I'm not much help but I don't really no what else to suggest. You could try putting ant powder around the cage or the back door but this could be dangerous if your piggies and daughter got to it xx

That may be my problem, I put veg in (they get curly kale, spinach leaves, cucumber and carrot) and they all run over and start scoffing. I dont take the rest away I just leave it in there incase they want it later but this might be whats attracting the ants so will start removing the leftovers and see if it helps. My cage is on the floor and its a large C&C which I wouldnt be able to put on a table as its too big. Will see if the veg removal works.
Thank you for replies x
