Hiya, I'm really worried. I was giving Sir David a comb and found that under his fur behind his ear he has a bald patch. I then checked Columbo and he has it as well. I have not noticed them scratching a lot. I mean the odd normal piggie scratch but not very often. They are indoor piggies and I have them in the run in the lounge for a couple of hours in the morning and the same in the evening. You can only notice it if you go under the fur but there is a patch of skin. There is no flaking, no redness, no scratches or broken skin. They are playing, popcorning and eating no problem. They are weeing and pooping fine. I am quite a new piggie mummy and I wouldn't want to miss any early signs of something. They are about 3 months old. Anyone out there have any ideas. Thanks.

A bald patch behind the ears is perfectly normal. It is more obvious on some piggies than on others. Many guineas also have bald patches on the insides of their 'ankles' on their front legs - again, normal.

Nothing to worry about at all. :)

Thanks Laura so much. I was really worried. This is worse than having kids. I just want to get it right though as I wouldn't want them to suffer in any way. Sorry for being a dunce malletheadmallethead

How can you know about it unless you've come across it or been told about it before? Always better to ask, no question is silly or too 'easy'. I'm glad you can put your mind at rest now. :)

Please note that most piggies have bald patches on their front legs as well!

There is no such thing as a silly question.
I am not so sure about some of the answers..!

Perfectly normal, nothing to worry about. I did not mean the answers on this thread were silly!
(Just sometimes, on some threads!)

I did wonder if my first comment would be applied to this thread, for once I agree with the answers (just thiis time!).
Back to the housework, if I can find my rubber gloves.

Thats so bizzare! I found that on one of my pigs (though I admit I didn't compare with another pig) and made a note to keep an eye on it. I mentioned it to my other half and he said "but they all have it". I was like "REALLY!?!?!" I couldn't believe I missed it! After all these years of keeping piggies!
