Help, I need advice.
Today I have noticed a bald spot under Gingers chin. He's very fluffy and initilly put it down to how his fur was.
* He still has an appetite
* I treat him regularly for mites etc..
* He's not scratching the area., it's not inflamed and he doesn't react to touching the area.

Am I panicking over nothing?IMG-20170102-WA0000.webp , I've attached the best picture I can get...

Very concerned and anxious right now.

A visit to the vets will be your best option, as the vet will be the only one who can give you a good diagnosis.
What I can tell you is that you shouldn't treat him regularly for mites because that can make the mites more resistant to an actual treatment if it's necessary.

I agree that regular mite treatment shouldn't be necessary unless there is an outbreak.

Is there a lump under It or just bald? Has he had a wet chin or chest that could of caused it I.e water running down or drooling?

Best to have a vet check it for diagnosis x

There is no lump, I had a feel today. He gets a wet chin when eating foods such as pepper, cucumber.

Noted about the mite treatment. I had the best intentions thinking prevention was the better option. Rather than letting my boys get infested.

Still learning, very new to guinea pigs x

No harm done, every day is a school day when we have piggies!

Good luck at the vet x

Sorry if I sounded harsh or something, it wasn't my intention at all, just wanted to let you know because there is quite a lot of people who think it's necessary (I did think so too at the beginning!). We are all here to learn, and we all make mistakes. As long as we accept that we make them, learn from them and change them... everything is alright!

Good luck at the vets! Tell us what they tell you please x

Hey, I didn't take it the wrong way at all. I just thought I was doing the right thing by my boys but like it's been said previously, everyday is a school day.

I will get Ginge booked in ASAP, I will update with an outcome. Like I say he is still his micheivous self and showing no odd symptoms. X

Hi there, I agree that it would be best to get the vet to check that over to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Hope he gets on OK.
We are all learning about our piggies all the time. It's great that you clearly want the best for him and we are always happy to help. Sadly parasites are a fact of life, also the fact that they are becoming more resistant to treatments - just like in humans!

Right before I forget, I've been to see the vets with Ginger.

It looks like he had an absess but it had self drained hence the exposed skin. So it's already taken care of itself.

He's very well and no need for panic.
