Help! ... Baytril = Bloat?

It could also possibly be Zantac or Cisapride, depends what your vet uses. Hopefully they will continue with the other supportive measures you have been doing. I have found vibration or massage can really help.
 
Thank you! I hope they keep her moving about as much as possible. Glad she's had even a tiny nibble and apparently she's a wriggler (I know all too well) so she's not giving up I hope xx
 
Wriggling in my experience is always a sign of a strong independent piggy. Its great that's she's starting to eat on her own. Let's hope these drugs kick in soon & start pooping real soon
 
I have my fingers crossed for a bucketload of poops! I'm thinking and hoping that as she last had Baytril yesterday AM, once it runs out her system she might feel better. Her cage mate is a few months younger than Bear so not as used to me, so she is sad today without her big friend to look after her. She was a bit off her food which was what I expected so have given her some CC on a teaspoon and she seems to have her appetite back now! Thank goodness. They really pine when they're apart
 
They sure do there's a great page on piggy's and bereavement might give you some tips on helping bore while your other piggy is in hospital.
 
Florrie has totally perked up and is running around everywhere as ive opened her cage door so she can roam. She's been eating and done some poos so I'm really relieved! I spoke to the vet this evening, she said Bear is ok and has eaten some bits and pieces herself but not many poos so is staying in until tomorrow and I can call at 9am and see how she is getting on. I guess no news is good news for now and the fact she has an appetite is good. Xx
 
Appetite is a great sign and bears in the best hands, I know how horrible it feels to not be with your piggie when they're poorly but he's in the best hands!

Appetite is a great sign. It takes a day or two when the guts are off for the new food to come through. the current output reflects what has gone in before, not today. ;)
 
I'm actually so exhausted I've only just got into bed now I know Florrie is feeling herself! Thank you as always everyone for the amazing support and I will keep you all updated tomorrow morning! The vet said earlier that Bear "didn't like" the subcutaneous fluid injections or something and so they have been focusing on the medication but I'm not entirely sure what she meant by that. I assume she made a big fuss as she is quite grumpy towards other people especially if she's upset and with needles involved I'm not surprised... I just hope they are doing everything they can to get all that gas out. Sigh
 
Its great new Florrie has pearked up that's one less thing for you to worry about :-). Also fantastic news bore is starting to eat on her own. Iv got everything crossed for lots of poops in the morning and hopefully bore will be back home very soon all better
 
Hello! No news tonight just waiting until tomorrow morning the vet is going to call me and I should be collecting Bear to bring home! So happy that she has done lots of poos and is recovering! Can't wait until 9am tomorrow :) xx

I bet you can't give bore huge cuddles from all of us here. I bet Florrie will go crazy to have her friend back home. let me know how it goes in the morning please x
 
Yes she has had loads of cuddles and they have been having lots of floor time and running around. They were super happy to see each other! She does still feel a little bloated still but is eating and pooing properly now and she is on ranitidine, bio lapis and the fibreplex for the next few days so will keep a close eye on her. Thank you to everybody as usual being so so supportive and helpful with tons of tips and advice! Big thank you from me and Bear xx
 
Hello! Bears bloat slightly returned, a few vet trips later our vet basically suggested we go elsewhere... so unprofessional and to be honest, totally wasted our time! Not to mention money and Bears pain! We took Bear to the Cambridge Veterinary group practice today which was totally AMAZING the Vet Jill Pearson knew so much and was so, so knowledgable and took so much time with us... I am now so so angry at the old Vet practice as they have messed us around and only just thought to tell us they don't know much about guinea pigs... funnily enough after we have spent over £500 there on bills. I am going to write a complaint. The vet said before we scan etc. we will do a weeks test and remove her carefresh bedding as I have seen her eat it, we are now replacing her water with cooled, boiled water and seeing how she goes until next thursday when I will call Jill and update her and take it from there! Apparently her stomach is not that bloated now, and the vet suspects she is in pain on her left side, could be related to ovaries but also could be indigestion from eating bedding; the pain from this is what could be causing her bloat from her gulping air too much. Keeping her on stomach motility drugs until they run out (few days I suspect) and so I am really really hoping she will get better! To be honest she is still very bright and perky so not like before but hopefully the bedding being removed will solve this!
 
Sounds like you have found a good vet, I think I may have taken my hamster there once. Fingers crossed they can help.
 
I'm so sorry to hear your vets have done this to you. I would deffently complain I can never get my head around why vets play around with an animals health if there not sure what there doing its not fair on our furry baby and not fair on you. I'm really glad you have found a good vets I have everything crossed for a quick recovery for bear
